There are approximately 1.3 million new cases diagnosed each year. We are all aware by now as to the primary cause of the increase in skin cancer in our population. The SUN….those Ultraviolet (UV) rays that are so damaging and detrimental to our skin. The great news for sun worshipers like myself is that we have a viable safe alternative method available at our fingertips to maintain a healthy tan looking skin.

They are called Sunless Self tanners and are generally offered in lotions, sprays and creams.

I could go on forever as to my reviews of self tanners as I have used so many in search of my top favorite. Today, I will focus on the reasons why you should consider using self tanners opposed the natural SUN (beautiful but really harmful) or tanning beds.

Here are just a few reasons why you should use Sunless Self Tanner:

       1. Many fair individuals have spent there lives being burned by the sun because they have no ability to tan. Sunless Self tanners will tan any individual…That’s amazing to me.

       2. The effects of a Sunless Self tanner is only temporary. In my case of having tried so many different self tanners, I can share with you that you will be thrilled that you do not have a long term commitment with some.

The truth is that 25% of women experience a weight gain and actually only 3% gain 15 pounds or more. Usually the larger weight gain is associated with heavy smokers which is a pack or more of cigarettes per day. The weight gain is the largest contributing factor as to “WHY” women resume smoking again after they have successfully quit for several months. It is also true that women generally resume smoking more often than men.

Why do women gain weight when they quit smoking? The reason is fairly simple. You have a slightly increased metabolism associated with smoking. That increase in a heavy smoking can actually burn up to 200 calories a day. That means that you will actually need to take in less calories or step up your exercise program to just maintain your weight.

In many cases you will eat more when you quit smoking. This is a natural response to the hand to mouth cessation that you have developed from years of smoking. Don’t forget that cigarettes are actually a natural weight suppressant. When you quit smoking, your brain will kick in the hunger feeling when you deny your system the nicotine from cigarettes.

This is the point at which food replaces the cigarettes. STOP! The simple replacement should be a glass of water although this will not satisfy the comfort you are looking for from sitting down and having a cigarette. BEWARE! Women are much more likely than men to pick up the smoking habit again. Awareness of what to expect will arm and assist you in achieving your goal. Keep your goal at the forefront of your mind to successfully quit smoking and not gain weight. You can minimize your weight gain by executing a daily plan.

Often overlooked are those incurred due to growth or major weight gain. These marks can come as a major shock, often causing significant insecurities among teens and singles. I’m surprised to learn how little some really know about stretch marks, how they occur, and what can be done to prevent or diminish them. I get really upset by those fooled into thinking miracle potions or in some cases plastic surgery can get rid of them. So lets clear this up right now!

Stress marks are caused by any type of rapid weight gain. Pregnancy of course is one of the most common occurrences of such weight gain. However most don’t know they are a natural part of puberty for most girls and guys. As is usually the case there are many different theories as to what causes stretch marks. Some assert that stress marks can occur w/o out any weight gain whatsoever. Usually pointing to hormones, genetics, diet, and other things I wouldn’t bother justify by listing here. I would certainly agree some of these elements do play a part. Hormonal differences are present during pregnancy and adolescence. Steroids can cause rapid increases in muscle mass. Family history or genetics is certainly a large factor in increasing your probability of being prone to this condition. So what exactly is a stretch mark? (more…)
